Nick Neumayer and Daniel Polce are the co-recipients of the 2026 Ron Balicki Scholarship.

Neumayer is a graduate student at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, pursuing a master’s degree in journalism with a specialization in sports media. Prior to that, Neumayer graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in multimedia journalism.
At Loyola, Neumayer began working in the communications department of the athletic office in the fall of his freshman year, and became the head media contact of the men’s and women’s golf teams entering his sophomore year.
Entering his senior year, Neumayer took on a similar role in the communications department at Northwestern athletics. Neumayer worked as a student intern and took over as the head men’s and women’s golf contact in August of 2025, just months after Northwestern won their first women’s golf national championship in program history.
Outside of his athletic communications roles, Neumayer co-hosts the Center Cup Podcast, putting out weekly episodes analyzing the professional and amateur world of golf alongside two of his fellow Northwestern students.
Neumayer also served as a beat writer for Loyola’s men’s basketball team for NBC Sports Chicago from 2021-2024.

“I’m incredibly honored to be chosen as one of the 2026 Ron Balicki Scholarship recipients. To be recognized in Mr. Balicki’s name carries weight. The award not only serves as validation for the effort I have placed into the craft, but will be of invaluable assistance as I prepare to enter graduate school in a few months’ time, where I will pursue an MSc in Golf Management from Ulster University in Northern Ireland as a newly minted PGA Member. I cannot thank the committee enough for my selection. This scholarship allows me to fully commit to the pursuit of my dreams.”
